The Pasadena Museum of California Art opened Millard Sheets: The Early Years (1926-1944) with a reception attended by almost 900 guests, including the late artist's children, Tony and Carolyn. On view through May 30, this exhibition's 80 oils, watercolors, drawings, and lithographs reveal the role Sheets played in Southern California's own cultural coming of age, and also his enormous influence on other West Coast artists.
