This August marks the completion of a two-year initiative by Charles Raskob Robinson (b. 1940) to create 36 paintings, all 13 x 32 inches and all depicting northwestern Connecticut's Lake Waramaug from the same vantage. On view in Washington Depot from August 21 through September 19, Robinson's images reflect every season and time of day; the lake might be placid, rippling, or frozen, while the distant hills change in color and shape according to their foliage. The canvases have been painted 20% on site and 80% back in Robinson's studio, where the famed landscapist Eric Sloane (1905-1985) once worked. Sales of his three dozen pictures will benefit the Lake Waramaug Task Force.
