The Grenning Gallery (Sag Harbor, Long Island) is presenting a solo exhibition by Nelson H. White (b. 1932), who divides his year between Connecticut, Shelter Island, and Florence. Italy matters deeply to the artist, who apprenticed with Pietro Annigoni (1910-1988) and studied with Nerina Simi (1880-1986); today he is closely involved with the Florence Academy of Art, founded in 1991 by another American, Daniel Graves. White's grandfather and father were distinguished artists, too, and this new show of 40 oil paintings and watercolors sustains his family's fascination with glowing scenes of shore and sea. The exhibition runs July 24-August 15.
