How did you get started and then develop your career?

After retiring from a career in pharmacy in 2016, I began devoting myself fully to painting and entered professional practice in 2019. As a largely self-taught artist, I developed through sustained independent study, workshops, and a six-month mentorship with Tina Garrett. Working both en plein air and in the studio taught me that faithful observation is only the beginning. I am drawn to fleeting moments of light at dawn, dusk, or after a storm, when an ordinary landscape can suddenly feel timeless. Plein-air studies give me firsthand knowledge of a place; back in the studio, memory helps me determine what matters enough to preserve. Over time, sfumato edges, restrained detail, and luminous color became part of my visual language. My paintings now live between observation and memory, exploring light, atmosphere, and the emotional experience of place. I want viewers to feel more than what a landscape looked like, to pause, breathe, and remember what it felt like to be there.
