From the museum:

SAM is honored to welcome back Oil Painters of America for its 35th National Exhibition. Drawn from roughly 1,800 submissions, only 215 works were selected for exhibition — representing some of today’s most accomplished artists working in oil. Among this distinguished group are 24 Colorado artists, including Steamboat Springs’ own Chula Beauregard. We invite you to experience this extraordinary collection and discover the skill, vision, and artistry that continue to shape the tradition of oil painting, while exploring the opportunity to acquire exceptional works in support of both the artists and the museum.

Running concurrently (through August 30, 2026) at the Tread of Pioneers Museum nearby is a solo exhibition by OPA member Chula Beauregard, who lives in Steamboat Springs. Titled “Legacy: A Year with the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust,” it chronicles her year-long residency exploring the ranches of Routt County. (Steamboat Springs is the county seat.)

During her visits, Beauregard painted plein air studies on site, then made larger oil paintings in the studio. The show also includes historic photos of the ranches and written stories that honor the land and the people who care for it. For details, visit treadofpioneers.org.
