Rendezvous Royale is the joyful celebration of the arts hosted by the town of Cody every September, featuring a range of sales, workshops, demonstrations, and lectures. The week’s centerpiece is the 45th annual Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale, which offers a range of stylistic interpretations of the West from more than 100 artists. Their creations are made in oils, watercolors, pastels, bronze, and other media. The works to be sold during its live auction will be displayed at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West through September 18.
That evening the auction and dinner will occur in an adjacent tent, with collectors competing in the room, by phone, and via absentee bids. The next morning will find some of the exhibiting artists participating in an outdoor Quick Draw & Sale while onlooking patrons enjoy brunch; the artists have only 90 minutes to create something memorable.
An accompanying Buy-it-Now Sale of 60 smaller works is on view through September 18, both in person and online. Among the workshops on offer are a three-day encounter with painter Kimball Geisler and a half-day dye-on-silk session with Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey.
Registration is required for all events. Both a virtual gallery and a printed catalogue of the auction items are available via the show’s website, and bidders who cannot attend in person may register to bid by phone or leave an absentee bid on a particular piece.
Organized by the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce, the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale generates proceeds that benefit the Center, the Chamber, and local arts organizations.
