Photography and Mixed Media Fine Art > Stanek Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming two-person exhibition “Storytellers.”

From the gallery:

Accomplished contemporary painter Francis Di Fronzo has created a new body of work exclusively for “Storytellers,” an exhibition at Stanek Gallery. His fine art mixed media paintings will be accompanied by the captivating photographs of Victoria Browning Wyeth, granddaughter of Andrew Wyeth, depicting the life and world of the Wyeth family from a personal and unique perspective.

Di Fronzo and Wyeth are drawn to the same vast spaces and intimate storylines found in the work of Pennsylvania native and iconic artist, Andrew Wyeth. Motivated by the desire to tell their own stories, both artists found their artistic voice in their youth, developing their unique approach dominated by personal experiences and imagination.

Di Fronzo’s works, though realist in nature, are founded in narratives created by the artist himself and come to life with vibrant color and haunting beauty. Wyeth’s black-and-white photographs present a unique view from the life and experiences of the only grandchild of Andrew Wyeth. Through intricately painted scenes and poetically composed photographs, viewers are invited into the lives and imaginations of these two great artists.

Exhibiting for the first time in a commercial gallery, Victoria Browning Wyeth began photographing her grandfather and her surroundings in her early teens, and quickly developed a unique talent and perspective. Growing up in a household filled with big stories and even bigger names, Wyeth carved out a unique identity and vision, handling her legacy with energy and grace. The photographs in this show provide an insight into the Wyeth world, through a remarkably distinct lens.

“I first met Victoria Wyeth while exhibiting the work of Francis Di Fronzo at the Stanek Gallery,” said gallery founder, Katherine Stanek. “After learning of the experiences that motivated each artist to tell their stories in their own medium, I began to see the organic connection between their works and knew the two must meet.” The “Storytellers” art exhibition evolved from this introduction.

“Storytellers” is on view at Stanek Gallery (Philadelphia, PA) September 7 through October 27, 2018. For more information, please visit www.stanekgallery.com.
