Ute Mountain Moonset, Susan Hediger Matteson, 30 x 30, oil on linen, 2022, Available at Mary Williams Fine Arts; The moonset behind a mountain

How did I get started and develop my career?
Susan Hediger Matteson: I majored in fine art in college and went on to get degrees in both fine art (drawing and painting) as well as graphic design and illustration. In 2010 I left the design field to focus on learning oil painting and improving my skills. Improving is a life long endeavor and that is part of the charm of art.

How do I find inspiration?
Susan Hediger Matteson: I truly find inspiration just about everywhere! One of my favorite inspirations is snowfall and how it mutes the landscape. I always loved riding my horse in snowstorms since I was young.
