We'd like to congratulate the winner of the Overall First Place in this round of the PleinAir Salon. Here's her inspiration, challenges, and thoughts on the composition of "Stillness."

Artist Kim Casebeer gathers inspiration from places where she lives, and revisits them to acquire a deeper study.

The painter Ken Goshen (b. 1988) ensured that sunlight and shadow were balanced perfectly in his Astoria, Queens, studio so as to best capture the nuances of his sitter: a torn loaf of challah bread, with its billowing, yeasty interior and shiny browned crust...

Artist Kami Mendlik has been studying art for thirty years, in this very not straight and narrow path has led her here, an eternal student of life and painting. Her quest for studying the countless nuances of color remains.

Artist Cynthia Rosen discovered to learn how to mix colors, it would provide consistency with her interest in the Color Field painters, the Impressionists, as well as Expressionists.

Once I found subject matter that excited me, I never needed to worry about finding inspiration.

You begin to treat it as a 9 to 5 job, getting up every morning and putting in the hours painting.

When it comes to subjects for his portraits and figures, this artist finds interest in a variety of people, in particular other creatives.
